ADD INBOUND MARKETING TO YOUR RESUME TOOLBOXYesterday, we went to a Chamber of Commerce meeting in support of Net Visibility Group, the awesome company that does our website’s SEO (helping you find us on the internet when you search for Oregon resume writers and Eugene career counselors). I am so happy I went to that meeting, because I learned more about Inbound Marketing, how it can help our business and how it can help YOU, the job seeker.

What is Inbound Marketing? For businesses, it is using keywords on our website so that potential customers will find our business when they use a Search Engine like Google. For someone looking for a job, it is creating an online presence for yourself so that potential hiring managers will find you when they search online profiles for candidates. Inbound Marketing is another “must have” tool to add to your job search toolbox…especially in today’s world.

Outbound Marketing for Job Seekers – Responding to a job posting with a resume and cover letter. Very important to keep doing!

Inbound Marketing for Job Seekers – Take that professional resume and post it on LinkedIn, request recommendations from your professional connections and add strategic keywords (representing your Areas of Experience) in the LinkedIn Summary section.

In support of the power of Inbound Marketing, this very Monday I received an email from a recruiter needing an HR Director in Oregon. The recruiter searched LinkedIn, before even posting the advertisement for the position. He had searched LinkedIn, using experience and geographical keywords, to find potential candidates in Oregon. My profile popped up, because I had his needed keywords in my Summary section, and he contacted me. One day later, he and I had a prospecting conversation.

Resumes will always be an effective job search tool, especially a well written one truly representing what you have to offer a hiring manager. Why not maximize this tool by using your resume content to create a solid and complete LinkedIn profile – and bring the recruiters to you!
